Red Dog Poker Rules | Games | Littlewoodsgaming.com
While Red Dog Poker has somewhat declined in popularity in land-based casinos, it is still quite popular online. A variation of what is known as acey-deucy or in-between, red dog poker is also sometimes referred to as yablon, or simply red dog.
When playing red dog, the suit of the card is irrelevant and card values are slightly different than in other games:
- Ace = 14
- King = 13
- Queen = 12
- Jack = 11
- Number cards = Face value
A standard deck of cards is used to play, though only three cards are used at a time.
First you place a wager, after which two cards are dealt face-up.
At this point one of three things can happen:
- If the cards are consecutive (such as 4, 5 or Q, K) it’s a push and your wager is returned.
- If the cards are equal in value a third card is dealt. If this card is of the same value as the first two cards your payout is 11:1. If not, the hand is a push.
- If the cards are neither consecutive nor of equal value (such as 3,8), a spread is announced determining the payoff (a 3, 8 hand has a four card spread), and a third card is dealt. You can double your bet before the third card is dealt. If the third card falls between the first two (a 4, 5, 6, or 7 in this case) you receive a payoff according to the spread. If not, you lose your bet.
